January Update

Happy New Year! Here are the new features we've been working on during the holidays.

✨ New Features

📚 Album Page Independence

The album feature has been separated from the Lifebook page into its own dedicated page. An album menu has been added to the navigation for quicker access.

📅 Year-by-Year Album Progress Tracking

You can now track your album progress by year. For example, you can view only species observed in 2026, so you can instantly answer "How many new birds have I seen this year?"

✏️ Daily Note

A daily note feature has been added to Lifebook. Every morning, the input field automatically appears so you can easily jot down your observation notes for the day.

🔄 Image Rotation

You can now rotate images before uploading. Rotate in four directions: 0°, 90°, 180°, 270°.

When your photo is sideways and needs straightening
When portrait photos appear in landscape orientation

✂️ Mobile Crop

The image crop feature, previously only available on desktop, is now available on mobile as well.

🌍 Detailed Activity Location Settings

You can now set your activity country and region in more detail in profile settings.

USA/Canada: Select down to state/province level
UK: Select down to constituent country (England, Scotland, etc.)
Japan: Select down to prefecture level

🎯 Region-Based Album Recommendations

Album recommendations now match your set activity country and region. Korean users see Korean albums first, Japanese users see Japanese albums first.

🇯🇵🇺🇸🇨🇦 Japan/North America Albums Added

31 new albums each for Japan and North America regions. You can now systematically manage your international observation records.

🎨 UI Improvements

Profile Page

Improved profile photo size and shape
Added interest taxa groups display
Introduced auto-save for profile settings (no save button needed)

Search and Taxa Display

Taxa group icons now shown in search results
Added dedicated icons for some taxa groups that previously used emojis (amphibians, fungi, etc.)

Album Detail View

Mobile: Immersive fullscreen modal
Desktop: Convenient side panel
Intuitive icon-based filters

Added album cover images to major albums
Improved album list loading and cover image loading UI

🦋 AI Improvements

AI V3.1: More Species Recognition

Our AI can now recognize significantly more species.

Species: 30,000+ → 50,000+
Genus: 10,000+ → 15,000+

Improved Recognition Rates

Recognition rates for birds, fish, and some insects have been significantly improved.

Mapping Error Fixes

Species that were previously incorrectly mapped have been corrected. For example, issues where bird species and plant species with similar names were swapped have been resolved.

🔧 Bug Fixes

Fixed issue where total species count didn't match actual count in album detail
Fixed "This profile is private" toast appearing when accessing own profile with expired token
Fixed intermittent crashes when viewing own private profile
Fixed English/Japanese translation errors (public profiles, album descriptions, etc.)
Fixed redirect issue on /ko/terms and /ko/privacy pages
